The luxe boat

Grand Luxe mega-yacht

Dubbed as the "The world's first luxury exposition mega-yacht," the Grand Luxe is a $60-million, 99-ton vessel, owned by Floridians David and Lee Ann Lester.

The Grand Luxe will be home to SeaFair, touted as "the first floating art fair in the world." The waterborne treasure chest will motor off with 28 galleries, two eateries, and a champagne-and-caviar lounge, among other lavish amenities, when she begins her maiden tour of the Eastern Seaboard in September. The floating art fair will sail down the Eastern Seaboard, making stops in posh ports of call from Greenwich, Connecticut, to Palm Beach.

SeaFair combines two upper-crusty passions—high-end collecting and yachts—into a new kind of luxury shopping experience.

High Society

A Wonderful Time By Slim Aarons (1974)

If you dream of champagne lunches, caviar for dessert, palazzos, castles, beautiful people, fast cars, and the aristocrats, this book is the ultimate high society wet dreams.

Photographer Slim Aarons served as a photographer during World War II. His combat earned him a purple heart. After the war, Aarons moved to California and began photographing celebrities. He worked for Town and Country, Vogue, Holiday and Life.

Aarons chronicled the good life of the upper class and aristocracy in the 1950's, 60's and 70's in three of his coffee table books. He made his career out of what he called "photographing attractive people doing attractive things in attaractive places."

Aarons passed away in June, 2006.

His first book 'A Wonderful Time' was published in 1974 and became a cult favorite among the fashion world.

Slim Aarons' 'A Wonderful Life' has been in my shopping wishlist for the last two years. But I have yet to find the best copy (First Edition, signed) and price for it. I already have 2 of his other coffee table books, 'Once Upon A Time' and 'A Place Under the Sun'.

Inside the book...

Prince and Princess Archil Gourielli in the living room of their New York apartment. The princess is Helena Rubinstein founder of the cosmetic company that bears her name. (c.1950).

From left to right; singer Marianne Faithfull, the Honorable Desmond Guinness and Mick Jagger (of the Rolling Stones) sit on a sofa under a large gilt framed painting of a woman in 18th century dress at Leixlip Castle, Ireland, the home of Desmond Guinness. (1968)

Film producer Kevin McClory takes his wife Bobo Segrist and their family for a drive in an 'Amphicar' across the harbour at Nassau. (1967).

Jacqueline Kennedy (Jackie Onassis) (1929 - 1994) wife of Senator Jack Kennedy at an 'April in Paris' ball. (c.1959)

Working at his typewriter surrounded by 'bunny girls', publisher Hugh M Hefner at the Playboy Key Club in Chicago. He founded adult magazines, Playboy, Vip , and Oui. (1960).

American socialite and Woolworth heiress Barbara Hutton (1912 - 1979), the world's richest woman, reclining by the Lido in Venice. (1958).

Babe Paley (Mrs. William Paley) by the pool. Her husband, William Paley is snapping the photographer at their cottage, Round Hill, Jamaica.

Film director Howard Hawks (1896 - 1977) and his wife Dee spend a summer day by the pool in Monaco with producer Charles K Feldman (1904 - 1968) and Feldman's protegee Germaine Lefebvre, aka French actress Capucine (1933 - 1990). (1957)

*Ring...ring...ring*

Jenni: Hello! Is this Vertu?

Vertu: Yes, this is vertu. Who's on the line?

Jenni: I'm Jenni, and I'm looking for an expensive assistant. Someone who is stylish, speaks several languages, can connect me to all my friends, relatives and business partners. You were highly recommended.

Vertu: It's true, I'm all of that.

Jenni: Can you tell me more about yourself?

18 carat, platinum and diamonds used to encase Vertu's precious metal handsets certified by the Swiss Assay Office

Vertu: Well, I'm from England. My parents are highly-skilled doctors. I'm made of sapphire crystal and Liquidmetal--a new amorphous alloy.

I produce the best sound in the market with specially tuned or high-fidelity performance and deeper base response. I have a 20mm speaker that is larger than other mass-produced handsets.

My other features include high-resolution dynamic display, with precision-engineered key switches with jewelled bearing.

The best part of it all, if you get me, I come with a 'Vertu Consierge.' It is an expert on travel, entertainment, accommodations, restaurants, and events.

Jenni: Hmmm... sounds interesting, I'll get back to you. Thank you.

Vertu: Have a pleasant day. Goodbye.

Green rocks!

24-Carat Dresden green diamond surrounded with 382 black diamonds.

I'm sure you've heard about different colored diamonds--black diamonds, yellow ice and J.Lo's pink ones, right? But have you seen a green diamond?

If you haven't, that's because they are rare! In fact, there's only one that has been reported to exist. The Dresden green diamond, which came from South Africa, gained its hue naturally millions of years ago when it was exposed to an unknown source of radiation.

Price tag: $7.3 million

Gruosi, the founder of the Swiss jewelry house de Grisogono, had the diamond cut from a rough, 100-carat stone that he acquired eight years ago . He describes the gem as the finest modern specimen of a green diamond, eclipsed only by the 40.70-carat (uncut) Dresden Green, which dates to at least the early 18th century.

According to de Gruosi, the 40.70-carat (uncut) Dresden Green is the largest and finest natural green diamond ever discovered. The earliest mention of the stone appears in an obscure 1722 London news sheet article that recounted diamond merchant Marcus Moses’ meeting with King George I. According to the article, the king viewed the gem and was “very much pleased with the sight thereof. It is said there never was seen the like in Europe before, being free from any defect in the world . . . .” However, Moses evidently did not close the deal with the British monarch, because 20 years later, Frederick Augustus II, the king of Saxony, purchased the diamond from the merchant. (The stone takes its name from Dresden, the city that was the capital of Saxony, which is now a region of Germany.)

Christian Louboutin Sparkly Pink pumps

The only way is up, baby!

I first saw this on Cameron Diaz when she wore it on 'The Elen Degeneres Show'. These pumps are 6 inches high!

It's the season's ultimate disco shoes--you don't need fancy laser lights when you wear these babies--it's your own mirror ball!

Imelda Marcos had a pair of disco shoes that lit up when worn--hers included batteries. Louboutin's Swarovski crystals are enough to light your pathways--no batteries needed.
